This course presumes you know how to use your own sewing machine for basic straight stitching.

This course takes place on Wednesday evenings for four weeks.
Wednesday October 21: 7 pm to 10 pm,
Wednesday October 28: 7 pm to 10 pm

Turn those clothing memories into a snuggly memento! A t-shirt quilt makes a great gift for a special occasion. We’ll go through all the steps in creating your one-of-a kind quilt top from preparing the t-shirts, design, cutting fabric and sewing it all together. During the last session we’ll go through options for quilting and binding your quilt top.
This course presumes you know how to use your own sewing machine for basic straight stitching.
COST: $160
( Maximum three participants, minimum two)

What you need to bring:

Your t-shirts (not cut up yet!)

5 m of lightweight fusible interfacing (such as Pellon FF911)
You don’t need fabric for the first session. We’ll start preparing the t-shirt blocks and discuss options for sashing and borders and how much fabric you will need for the quilt that you want to make.
Make your Own Rope Bowl

In this fun workshop, learn how to sew cotton rope into household objects with unique embellishments. You will leave the workshop with a trivet or two coasters and a small bowl made out of rope. Warning: you may become addicted to sewing rope bowls!
This workshop is appropriate for beginner and intermediate sewers/

Cost $30 for one 3-hour class

What to bring:

your own sewing machine and thread (thread could be neutral, matching the rope or colourful to stand out)

cotton rope : 3/16th inch, 100% cotton or cotton/poly blend , minimum 15 m
-
(for example: a package of Ben Mor 3/16" x 50 feet cotton clothesline at Canadian Tire for $5.99 or a package of KingCord 3/16th x 100 feet cotton/poly clothesline from Home Hardware for $11.99)
Lengths of rope required for projects:

2 m per coaster

9 m for a trivet (rope and thread for a mat that will be used as a hot pad should be 100% cotton)

3 m for a small trinket bowl

Make your own Re-usable Christmas Crackers

Christmas fabric in a non-directional, small scale print (Amount of fabric required: one "fat quarter" or .35 m (13 inches) of yardage for two crackers. (one cracker need a piece of fabric that is 12 inches by 11 inches)
Sewing for Baby

Make a bib, a burp cloth and a small quilt for the baby in your life.
Skills we will practise include ironing, cutting with a rotary cutter, using a pattern, stitching in straight and curved lines, topstitching as well as piecing, sandwiching, basting and quilting a quilt for baby.
This course presumes you know how to use your own sewing machine for basic straight stitching.
Cost: $120
What to bring with you on the first day:
-Your sewing machine, along with bobbins and thread
.7 m of cute flannel (100% cotton) to make the burp cloth
At the first session we’ll discuss what materials you need to buy for the quilt, and that will depend on your choice of the designs shown.
