Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
Welcome to Woodgreen! I’m delighted that you’re interested in learning to sew, developing your skills, or exploring the art of quilting in my home studio. These Terms and Conditions are designed to ensure a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
By registering for a class or workshop you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Registration and Payment
-
Registration: Advance registration is required for all classes, workshops, and orientations. Your place is confirmed once your registration and required payment have been received.
-
Payment: Full payment is required at the time of registration unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed upon in writing.
-
Class sizes: Class sizes may be limited to provide a comfortable learning environment and allow for individual instruction.
-
Accuracy of information: Participants are responsible for providing accurate contact information and any other information reasonably required to participate in a class.
-
Changes to registration: Requests to transfer a registration to another class or participant must be approved in advance and are subject to availability.
2. Refund, Cancellation and Credit Policy
I understand that plans can change. The following policy applies to cancellations made by participants.
Cancelling 7 or More Days Before a Course
If you cancel your registration at least 7 calendar days before the scheduled start date of a course, you are eligible for a full refund of the course fee paid.
Cancelling Within 7 Days of a Course
If you cancel your registration fewer than 7 calendar days before the scheduled start date, but at least 24 hours before the applicable class begins, you will receive a credit toward a future course or workshop. No cash refund will be provided for these cancellations.
No-Shows
Participants who do not attend a scheduled class, workshop, or orientation without providing notice are considered no-shows. No refunds or credits will be provided for missed sessions or registrations in these circumstances.
Partial Attendance and Missed Classes
There are no partial refunds for participants who miss one or more classes in a multi-session course, arrive late, or leave early.
Where scheduling and availability permit, make-up instruction may be arranged at the instructor’s discretion. Make-up instruction is not guaranteed and may be subject to additional fees.
How to Cancel
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by email to woodgreensewing@gmail.com. The time the cancellation request is received will determine which cancellation policy applies.
Credits are non-refundable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and must be used toward an eligible future class or workshop. Any expiry date or additional conditions applicable to a credit will be communicated when it is issued, subject to applicable law.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights a participant may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
3. Cancellations or Changes by the Instructor
Occasionally, a class may need to be cancelled or rescheduled due to illness, unforeseen circumstances, insufficient enrolment, equipment issues, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control.
If I cancel a class or workshop, participants will be offered either:
-
A full refund of the fee paid for the affected class or workshop; or
-
The option to transfer their registration to a rescheduled date or another suitable offering.
If a class is rescheduled and the participant cannot attend the new date, a full refund for the affected class or workshop will be available.
Every reasonable effort will be made to notify registered participants promptly of any changes.
4. Age Requirements and Supervision
Unless a class or workshop is specifically advertised as a children's class, all participants must be 16 years of age or older.
Classes intended for children will be clearly identified in the class description, including any applicable age range and supervision requirements.
For children's classes:
-
A parent or legal guardian must complete the registration and provide any required consent.
-
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that the child understands and follows the studio's safety instructions.
-
Any drop-off, pick-up, and supervision arrangements will be communicated before the class.
-
Children must follow all safety instructions and use equipment only as permitted by the instructor.
The instructor reserves the right to decline or discontinue participation if a participant cannot safely engage in the activities offered.
5. Class Content and Skill Levels
Each class or workshop will include a description of its content, intended skill level, duration, and any specific requirements.
Participants are responsible for reviewing the class description before registering and ensuring that the class is appropriate for their interests and experience.
While every effort will be made to provide clear instruction, individual progress will vary. Completion of a project or mastery of a particular skill cannot be guaranteed.
Instructional demonstrations, project examples, and class schedules may be adjusted as reasonably necessary to accommodate class needs, equipment availability, or learning requirements.
6. Materials, Supplies and Equipment
The class description will specify which materials, supplies, tools, and equipment are included in the registration fee and which items participants must provide.
Participants are responsible for bringing any required supplies that are identified as their responsibility.
Where sewing machines, irons, rotary cutters, scissors, rulers, cutting mats, or other tools are supplied by the studio:
-
Equipment must be used only for its intended purpose and in accordance with the instructor's directions.
-
Participants must ask for assistance before using unfamiliar or potentially hazardous equipment.
-
Tools and equipment must be handled carefully and returned to their designated locations after use.
-
Participants must report any equipment malfunction, damage, or safety concern immediately.
Participants may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing equipment damaged through intentional misuse or negligent conduct, subject to applicable law.
7. Health, Safety and Studio Rules
Classes take place in a private home studio. To maintain a safe and welcoming environment, all participants agree to:
-
Follow the instructor's safety directions at all times.
-
Use sewing machines, irons, rotary cutters, needles, and other tools with appropriate care.
-
Keep work areas, walkways, and exits clear.
-
Treat the studio, equipment, materials, and other participants with respect.
-
Refrain from attending while impaired by alcohol, recreational drugs, or any substance that affects their ability to participate safely.
-
Notify the instructor of any immediate safety concern.
Participants should inform the instructor in advance of any accommodation needs or circumstances that may affect safe participation. Such information will be handled respectfully and confidentially, subject to applicable law.
The instructor may pause or end a participant's involvement if their conduct presents a safety risk to themselves or others.
8. Home Studio Access
The studio is located in a private residence.
For everyone's safety and privacy:
-
Participants must arrive at the agreed-upon time and follow any entry instructions provided.
-
Access to private areas of the home is not permitted without permission.
-
Children and accompanying guests may attend only where expressly permitted for the particular class. Please email woodgreensewing.ca to request permission for attendance of non-registrants.
-
Participants must respect the privacy of the instructor, other participants, and neighbouring residents.
-
Parking, accessibility, washroom arrangements, and other relevant studio details will be communicated where appropriate before the class.
The studio address and access instructions will be provided to registered participants as needed and should not be shared publicly without permission.
9. Participant Conduct
All participants are expected to contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Harassment, discrimination, bullying, threatening behaviour, deliberate disruption, or damage to property will not be tolerated.
The instructor reserves the right to ask a participant to leave if their conduct materially disrupts the class or compromises safety. Where participation is ended because of a participant's serious misconduct or safety violation, refunds or credits will not ordinarily be provided, subject to applicable law.
10. Photography, Video and Class Projects
Participants may photograph their own projects and work for personal use, provided this does not disrupt instruction or infringe on another person's privacy.
Recording instruction, photographing other participants, or publishing identifiable images of others requires their permission.
The instructor may occasionally wish to photograph completed projects or workshop activities for promotional purposes. Photographs or videos identifying participants will only be used for promotional purposes with their appropriate consent. Consent to promotional photography is optional and is not a condition of participation.
Participants who do not wish to be photographed may advise the instructor before the class.
11. Intellectual Property and Project Instructions
Original patterns, handouts, written instructions, demonstrations, photographs, and other teaching materials provided by the instructor remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.
Unless permission is expressly granted, participants may use these materials for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
Materials may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published, or used to teach or deliver commercial workshops without the appropriate permission.
Participants retain ownership of their own completed projects, subject to any applicable third-party rights in patterns or designs used.
12. Personal Belongings and Loss or Damage
Participants are responsible for their personal belongings, including fabrics, tools, sewing supplies, clothing, and electronic devices brought to the studio.
The instructor will take reasonable care of the teaching environment but cannot guarantee the security of personal property.
Participants should label their belongings and take any valuable items with them when leaving.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Liability and Assumption of Risk
Sewing and quilting activities may involve risks associated with needles, scissors, rotary cutters, irons, sewing machines, and other equipment.
Participants agree to exercise reasonable care, follow safety instructions, and use tools responsibly.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the instructor is not responsible for loss, damage, or injury arising from circumstances beyond the instructor's reasonable control or from a participant's failure to follow reasonable safety instructions.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any duty of care, statutory right, or liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Participants should notify the instructor promptly of any incident, injury, or equipment-related safety concern occurring during a class.
14. Illness and Emergencies
Participants who are unwell or experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness (such as Covid 19) are encouraged to stay home and/or contact the instructor before attending.
Any request to reschedule due to illness will be considered in accordance with the cancellation policy and applicable law.
In the event of an emergency, the instructor may stop the class, direct participants to leave the studio, or contact emergency services as appropriate.
15. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information collected during registration will be used for purposes such as processing bookings and payments, communicating class details and schedule changes, managing attendance, issuing refunds or credits, and providing customer service.
Personal information will be handled with reasonable care and in accordance with applicable privacy laws. It will not be sold to third parties.
Information may be shared with service providers where reasonably necessary to operate the business, process payments, or meet legal obligations.
Participants may contact the instructor to ask questions about their personal information or request access or correction where applicable.
16. Communication and Important Updates
Participants are responsible for providing a current email address or other designated contact information and checking communications relating to their registration.
Important updates, including schedule changes, preparation instructions, supply lists, and cancellation notices, may be sent electronically.
Participants should contact the instructor if they have not received information reasonably required to attend their registered class.
17. Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control
The instructor will not be considered in breach of these Terms and Conditions for a delay or inability to deliver a class caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, such as severe weather, power outages, emergencies, or government restrictions.
Where a class cannot proceed, the instructor will communicate the available options, which may include rescheduling, transferring the registration, or providing a refund for the affected class, as appropriate and required by law.
18. Amendments to These Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in business operations or applicable legal requirements.
The version applicable to a booking will ordinarily be the version in effect when the registration is accepted, unless a change is required by law or otherwise agreed to by the participant.
Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
19. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada.
Any dispute will be addressed in accordance with applicable law, including any mandatory consumer protection rights available to the participant.

What to include in the T&C document
Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.
